Complementary Information

Organization development (OD) is a planned, organization-wide effort to increase an organization's effectiveness and viability. It could be described as a response to change, a complex educational strategy intended to change the beliefs, attitudes, values, and structure of organization so that they can better adapt to new technologies, marketing and challenges. Kurt Lewin (1898–1947) is widely recognized as the founding father of OD. At the core of OD is the concept of organisation, defined as two or more people working together toward one or more shared goal(s). Development in this context is the notion that an organisation may become more effective over time at achieving its goals. OD is a long range effort to improve organisation's problem solving and renewal processes, particularly through more effective and collaborative management of organisational culture, often with the assistance of a change agent or catalyst and the use of the theory and technology of applied behavioral science.

Change Management

Defining an enterprise-wide programme is a task in itself, as is building the team to implement the change. One area of Programme Management that is frequently under-estimated or not even addressed is organisational change management. Programme change management is about managing changes to the scope of the programme. Organisational change management is the business of ensuring that the programme is implemented with a positive impact for the various stakeholders, through communication, training, involvement, etc. After all, it would be a shame if your programmes's benefits were outweighed by costs related to managing your stakeholders, perhaps years after implementation.

Performance Management & Evaluation

One concern facing organisations is the perennial problem of cascading strategic goals through the corporate hierarchy to the individual contributor. With an effective performance management system, and the appropriate coaching of line management, implementation of corporate strategy becomes a "piece of cake". CAPRESE offers guidance on the implementatoin of a performance management system, as well as the ongoing training and supervision of the various actors in the process.
